Library Services

Purpose The collection and facilities of the library are intended for the use of students and staff at BDSS. Materials have been selected with care to provide necessary resources for class assignments, as well as suitable recreational reading. The Library Resource Centre is fully equipped with a networked multimedia lab and wireless Internet access.

Staff

  • Full-time Library Technician

Instructional Program

All students are taught information skills in a sequenced way as part of their regular courses of study. Teachers accompany the class and work with the Library Technician to assist students in developing information skills.

Short research seminars are available upon request.

Loan Periods

  • Magazines: overnight
  • Most circulating books: three weeks
  • Reference materials: overnight

Overdues

You will be notified by the Library Technician if you fail to return resources or your borrowed material is overdue.

Borrowed materials may be renewed by asking the Library Technician. Please consider that others may be waiting for the same resources.

Reading Room

The reading room is available for quiet study.

Conduct

The Library Resource Centre rules follow the school code of behaviour. Be courteous and considerate of everyone using the Library.

Netiquette

Tampering with, altering, or damaging computer software or hardware will lead to immediate loss of computer privileges, as well as disciplinary action. The same applies to breaches of the BDSS "Netiquette Code of Conduct". This includes the transmission or wilful reception of obscene, unlawful, or other inappropriate material on school computers and equipment.
